London Marathon runners raise £36,000
Our two heroic runners who took on the London Marathon both successfully completed the race last weekend and raised an incredible £36,000 for Pluto.
Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, William Sherwood, received a huge boost to his Just Giving page following Marina Hyde's article in The Guardian at the weekend. Over 1,000 donors from all over the country were so inspired by her column that they donated £31,000 in 48 hours. Will found the last 8 miles gruelling but said that "it was the thought of all the donors which kept him going".
James Kelly, father of Jacob, who needed surgery at the hospital, ran an awesome 3 hours 50 minutes. He was supported by his wife Jacqui, a paediatric nurse at the Trust, and Jacob. James has raised over £6,000 for the Appeal.
We'd like to thank everyone who so generously supported Will and James. Through their hard work, we have now raised a fantastic £1,072,000 which means that we're over 70% of the way to the target!
